Great product, but a bit stingy with the resin

I have built an 18' sailboat, a mini camper, and 2 stand-up paddleboards using this marine grade epoxy. It is wonderful to work with, and creates a hard, durable, and clear finish. It has been a bit of a disappointment, however, to find myself with quite a bit of hardener remaining, after using up the resin. This happened with my last 2 purchases. I assume that, since the resin is so much thicker, and slow to pour, that whoever is filling the jugs gets tired of filling the jug completely. So, great product, but it's not so much of a bargain if I cannot use all of what I paid for.

IT SHOULD BE SOLD AS "THICK" EPOXY!

I just this Marineguard 8000 for the first time last week so I can not say what the long term quality is. I will say that this is extremely thick resin and should not be considered the same as almost all the other epoxy products sold. I used it for laminating and wetting out the cloth was very difficult. I ended up using West system from West Marine since I had the job all set up and West Marine is convenient and had the resin in stock. I would not normally recommend this product for most marine applications.

Best For Any Water Projects

I have used many different types of resin in hopes they would be long-lasting and water-resistant. Finding this type of epoxy resin has been an extreme help. I have used this resin in small batches to coat many different textures and waterproof different materials. This resin is a bit thicker than the diamonds resin but I use it as instructed and don't let it sit long before I paint it on with a smooth high-quality brush. It makes each project last with a hard coating that can be used in chlorine and many different types of water.

From Skeptic to Believer

This was my fourth fresh water canoe / boat project and was a little tired of paying ridiculous prices for other brand named marine epoxy. I took a chance with Marineguard when expecting to need more than 3 gallons total to finish out my 16' cedar plank canoe. Despite mixing a little thicker than West System epoxies, it really flowed well, wetting our our 6 ounce fiberglass cloth like a champ. It cured amazingly clear and rock hard against the cedar without any issues between cured layers. I was worried by taking a chance on an untried product, but I'm sold on the product and highly recommend this as an alternative to the higher cost options out there.

The wet out process is embedded in the video link. Not sure if that's allowed, but you can cut that out if you like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CYQH9Mhf8w
